Kolkata: The city remained partly cloudy and received drizzles on Sunday after a week-long dry spell.
The Met office said Kolkata and its surrounding districts were likely to get more showers, triggered by a depression, till Sept 12.
The depression over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a deep depression in the next 24 hours, the Met predicted.
It moved north-northwestwards at a speed of 13 kmph and lay about 280 km east of Kalingapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), 230 km east-southeast of Gopalpur (Odisha), and 390 km south of Digha (West Bengal) on Sunday.
Light to moderate rainfall has been predicted at most places in Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore, Jhargram, Bankura, Purulia, besides other districts of south Bengal, on Monday.
However, one or two places in East and West Midnapore, South 24 Parganas, Jhargram and Bankura were likely to be lashed by heavy rain on Monday, the weathermen added.
Some areas of North and South 24 Parganas, Hooghly, Nadia and Birbhum could continue to receive light to moderate showers till Wednesday, stated a bulletin issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre.
