• Bidhannagar cops to buy taller, heavier barricades
    Times of India | 9 September 2024
  • Kolkata: In a preparatory move before more agitations take place, Bidhannagar City Police is set to buy 30 barricades, which will likely be 7.5-ft high and 6-ft wide. They will weigh around 100 kg each, so that protesters find it difficult to shove them if they are tied together, said an officer.

Cops predicted that demonstrators might try to march towards Swasthya Bhavan or there might be agitations in front of the CGO Complex, which houses the CBI office, where investigations into the RG Kar rape-murder incident is currently underway.

Cops said there had been attempts to reach Swasthya Bhavan as doctors blame the health department for indulging former RG Kar principal, Sandip Ghosh.
