'We won't get justice easily, police tried to cover up evidence': RG Kar victim’s parents

The parents and family members of the victim pleaded all to stand by them till they get justice. KOLKATA: “We won’t get justice easily; we have to snatch justice. This will not be possible without everybody’s help,” said the father of the 31-year-old R G Kar victim on Sunday while joining protests in Esplanade, Rash Behari and Jadavpur. He added, “You all standing beside us gives us courage to fight for it.”
At Jadavpur, her parents spoke to Rimjhim Sinha, who gave the call for the ‘Reclaim the Night’ movement.
A day before the Supreme Court hearing, the parents and family members of the victim pleaded all to stand by them till they get justice.
They had attended a doctor’s rally at R G Kar last week.
The parents and kin were present at the protest gathering organised by the joint platform of doctors, West Bengal, which held a rally from NRS to Esplanade on Sunday. Her mother said that they were gathering strength after seeing so many people standing with them at this hour of need.
“My daughter wanted to become a doctor. Everyday, it cripples me from inside when I think how she had suffered in her last hours. From the very beginning, cops didn’t co-operate with us. We could have seen a glimpse of hope if they had co-operated a little. Police tried to cover it up and evidence, too, has been tampered with,” she said.
Her father could not control his tears. “I have seen her grow in front of my eyes. We could not even imagine that such a day was waiting for us. We do not want justice, we demand justice. We want your support till it is delivered,” said the victim’s aunt.
The family reached Rashbehari from Esplanade where they joined the protest by ex-students of 52 south Kolkata schools. Her father said, “People who are protesting on the streets are our own family.” Her elder cousin said, “After seeing your support, we want to say that we demand justice.”
