Kolkata: St Xavier’s Collegiate School is set to introduce Lower Kindergarten for the 2025-26 academic session. An admission notice on the school’s website said that those born in 2021 are eligible to take admission. The applications are being accepted from Sept 6 and will continue till 27.
The decision was made following the National Education Policy, 2020.In its entry level classes that was called ‘Class KG’, the school would admit only those students who were above the age of five. However, now the school has planned to lower its entry age for LKG from new session.
School principal Father Roshan Tirkey said, “The decision has been taken considering the National Education Policy, 2020. We used to admit students in Class KG where the cut-off age was five-plus. From next year, LKG will be the entry level class and Class KG will be identified as UKG. We are also discussing if in the future we could start nursery classes for children aged three-plus.”
The new class is likely to start with 150-200 seats. The number of sections and that of students in each section are yet to be finalised. This will help parents, who had to wait till their kids attained the age of five, to be eligible to take admission to this school.
