  • NEW DELHI: The father of a deceased trainee doctor from RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata has expressed dissatisfaction with West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee's handling of the case. He claimed it was the reason behind his demand for a CBI investigation into the death of his daughter.

The father stated, "We are not satisfied with the role of the CM (Mamata Banerjee) in the case; that's why we went to the CBI.She hasn't done any work." He added that a policeman informed them about the arrest of Sanjay Roy, who would be tried in a fast-track court, but indicated that more individuals from the department were involved.

Reacting to CM Banerjee's call for the return to festivities ahead of Durga Puja, the father said, "Maybe she will take people to celebrate, in her capacity but we think no one will celebrate Durga Puja this year." He expressed that people from Bengal and the country viewed his daughter as their own.

The victim’s mother found the request to resume festivities inhuman. "Durga Puja is celebrated in my house too; my daughter used to handle it herself. But Durga Puja will never be celebrated in my house again. The light in my home is out. How can I ask people to return to the festival?" she questioned. She further added, "If such an incident had happened in the chief minister's family, would she have said this?"

The mother emphasized that their movement for justice would continue. The second-year postgraduate medical student was raped and murdered inside the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College on August 9.
