  • Kolkata: A Railway Protection Force (RPF) sniffer dog helped track down a person who had stolen a crucial signalling equipment on the Bandel-Naihati line that had caused track circuit failure.

The theft came to light following an investigation into a track circuit failure detected at 7.55 am on Tuesday. Subsequent investigations revealed that two jumper cables from the join box had been cut and stolen, resulting in the signaling malfunction.

While the problem was rectified, the RPF team in coordination with Russel, a sniffer dog from the Howrah Dog Squad, launched a search for the perpetrator. Their combined efforts led to the recovery of the stolen jumper signalling cable and the arrest of the accused. TNN
