Kolkata: The class XI first semester exams at Higher Secondary schools are set to start from Friday.
For the first time, students will be taking a 1.5-hour exam consisting of 40 marks of multiple choice questions (MCQ) type questions. The exams will end on Sept 30.
Although the OMR sheets will be manually assessed, school heads of affiliated schools have already printed those to conduct the tests.
Several principals pointed out that they had very little time to adapt to the new system. “We have clearly told our students to take these exams seriously because if they are unable to clear this semester then they have to clear it in the third semester ,” said Mitra Institution Bhawanipore, headmaster, Raja Dey.
Subhrajit Dutta, the headmaster of Hindu School, was hopeful that students would handle the challenge well. Many schools have also issued exam guidelines.
