  • Kolkata: At a time when Mohammedan Sporting are readying themselves for their historic debut in the Indian Super League, their reserve team oozes less enthusiasm in its defence of the CFL Premier Division.

Having won the local league for the past three seasons, they managed to sneak into the Super Six championship round as the third team from their group. But in a latest setback to their title-defence, they suffered a 1-2 loss to Calcutta Customs at the Naihati Stadium on Sunday.

Calcutta Customs raced to a 2-0 lead in the first half with goals from Robi Handsa (29) and Ujjal Howladar (45). Suraj Rajwar pulled one back for Mohammedan Sporting in the 71st minute, but it was not enough for the defending champions to salvage anything from the match.

Mohammedan Sporting beat Bhawanipore SC 2-0 in their Super Six opener three days ago.
