  • Kolkata: The CBI, looking into the “larger conspiracy” in the rape and murder of the post-graduate trainee doctor at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, has sent summons to four officers of Kolkata Police.

According to sources in the central investigation agency, it has sent summons to four officers, including two sub-inspectors in connection to the case.

The agency has already raised the allegation of “dereliction of duty” on the part of some officers of the Kolkata Police.

The investigators alleged that a section of police officers tried to misguide the investigators.

On Sunday, the CBI, at the Sealdah ACJM court, has pointed at a larger conspiracy behind the rape and murder of the trainee doctor.

The agency had also alleged tampering with the crime scene. CBI officials have reasons to believe that Sandip Ghosh, former principal of the medical college, was in touch with officials of Kolkata Police, who might have helped him in destroying evidence.

The agency is also looking into the case diary to find out discrepancies, pointing at intentional efforts of a cover-up.

Kolkata Police has, however, told the Supreme Court that the crime scene was never compromised.

It has also submitted a detailed timeline of Aug 9 and claimed that every legal step was taken on time.

The CBI officers, however, feel that interrogation of officers linked to the case will give further leads.
