A brace from Aman CK (9 and 41 minutes) and a goal apiece from PV Vishnu (17), Jesin TK (26) and Muhammad Roshal (73) helped East Bengal stay on top of the Championship standings with 40 points from 14 matches (13 wins and 1 draw), taking another step towards regaining the crown. This was also their second successive win in the Super Six after beating Calcutta Customs 4-1 five days ago.

They will take on defending champions Mohammedan Sporting in their next fixture on Friday.

“I am satisfied with my boys' performance today, but to be honest, we should've scored more goals in the second half. There is no room for complacency and we need to remain alert throughout the 90 minutes," East Bengal coach George said after the game.
