  • Kolkata: The Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM) and the Institute of Data Engineering, Analytics and Science Foundation Technology Innovation Hub (IDEAS-TIH) at the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) have launched an Executive Programme on “A Data-Driven Approach to ESG and Sustainability for Business” starting from Nov.

The two institutions signed an MoU on Tuesday to formalize their collaboration on this certificate programme.

ISI director Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay emphasized the importance of addressing environmental and social threats through data-driven approaches.

The primary objective of this partnership is to harness the power of data analytics to integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles, while also instilling a commitment to sustainability and social responsibility in the younger generations. The 10-week course will be offered in a hybrid format, including a campus immersion programme on both IISWBM and ISI campuses. Participants will be taught the essential components of ESG and sustainability, as well as the data analytics skills necessary to implement and practice these concepts.

During an interactive session with industry representatives and trade chambers, like Tata Metaliks, PwC, CESC, and BCC&I, the challenges faced by businesses in terms of data availability, collection, and validation were discussed. These aspects have been incorporated into the course curriculum.
