Kolkata: New police commissioner Manoj Verma in his first interaction with his officers after taking charge on Tuesday has stressed on unity in the force and better coordination between seniors and juniors. He took over the reins of the force in a tumultuous period following the R G Kar rape-murder and when there’s a growing dissatisfaction in middle and lower ranks after the arrest of former Tala PS OC.
Verma, on Tuesday, held a meeting with senior officers of the ranks of special CPs, additional CPs, joint CPs and DCPs at Lalbazar.Sources said the talks ranged over multiple issues including better maintenance of law and order, managing traffic during puja as well as other times, prevention and detection of crime and spearheading various citizen-friendly initiatives.
Sources said he also asked seniors to reach out to juniors for better coordination.
