Kolkata: The city could receive light to moderate showers on Tuesday which could be followed by more heavy rain on Wednesday if two systems—that are set to form over Bay of Bengal on Monday—move towards south Bengal. An upper air cyclonic circulation over westcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal that lay over westcentral Bay of Bengal on Saturday and extends up to mid-tropospheric levels has been detected.
The systems is likely to form on Monday, said RMC weather scientist HR Biswas. “We expect heavy rain in coastal Bengal on Wednesday. The impact on Kolkata and south Bengal still not clear since the exact place of the systems’ formation and its course are not known. It will be clear by Monday,” said Biswas.
