Both sections are bailable and attract no more than six months in prison along with a fine. Among the first ones to get such notices were five persons, who had organized a protest at DH Road’s Sakherbazar Crossing on Sept 5. Claiming that they had blocked a national highway, the cops asked these organizers toappear before them within a weekand served a notice under section 35 (3) of BNSS.
The recipients of such notices stated that they were taking legal advice. While cops will continue to desist from physically getting protesters off the road, they will take follow-up action against organizers of protests that cause traffic disruptions. These protests would be videographed, sources said, adding that the same would be sent to courts.
