Kolkata: A truck driver died and three other persons suffered critical injuries after three trucks and a pickup van collided with each other on Vidyasagar Setu, close to the HRBC Building, around Friday midnight.

According to an officer, the CCTV footage shows a speeding cement-laden truck losing control while attempting to overtake another truck on the Kolkata-bound flank. It was around 11.45 pm on Friday that the vehicle swerved, broke through the divider and collided with two other trucks and a pickup van in succession. All the vehicles were on the opposite flank.
The driver of the truck died on the spot. His identity is yet to be established. The injured are Manirul Islam (25), Mainur Sk (20) and Dipak Das, residents of Chandaneswar and Baruipur.
In another accident, Bishal Majhi (19) from Tiljala died as his bike collided with a van on Dhapa road.
