Kothari tops group to make pre-quarters in Ulaanbaatar

Kolkata: On the back of winning three consecutive matches in his group, Sourav Kothari stormed into pre-quarterfinals of the ongoing IBSF World 6 red snooker championship being held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The Kolkata-based player made the knockout round as topper of Group E.
According to information received here, Kothari found himself trailing 0-2 to Mongolian ace Lkhagvasuren Tumurchudur in the first match.But the Indian mounted a massive fightback and ended up winning the match 4-3.
The other two matches, however, were smooth sailing for Kothari. He brushed aside Ahmed Saif of Qatar 4-1 in the second match before blowing away Japan’s Junji Miyazawa 4-0 in the third and final group match, thus confirming his passage to the knockout round as a group topper.
