The Kolkata Police has issued notices to five women involved in the “Reclaim the Night” protests against the RG Kar rape and murder case. The police argue that organizers must obtain permission before holding rallies or sit-ins.

Protest organizers claim that they have informed the police about their events and have been carrying out programs peacefully. They argue that the police’s actions are an attempt to intimidate them.

The police have filed a case against the five organizers under the Indian Penal Code and the National Highway Act.

Additionally, they have issued notices to them under the Indian Civil Protection Code, requiring them to appear before investigators within seven days. ens
