Kolkata: Balmer Lawrie & Co Ltd is establishing a free trade warehousing zone (FTWZ) at Mumbai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Port. Chairman and MD Adhip Nath Palchaudhuri shared that the company has secured 15 acres of land for the venture and is investing Rs 220 crore. “In FTWZ, goods can be stored for 2-5 years. It manages inventories for a company,” Palchaudhuri said.
Palchaudhuri added the board has sanctioned a Rs 700 crore capex over the next few years, which includes the FTWZ project and an ethanol plant.
The company is investing Rs 330 crore in the ethanol project, which will be located in Andhra Pradesh.
Additionally, Balmer Lawrie is developing a third-party logistics facility in Dankuni with an investment of Rs 45 crore. tnn
