Kolkata: The eastern zonal bench of National Green Tribuna (NGT), comprising Justice B Amit Sthalekar and Arun Verma (expert member), asked the state govt, the state pollution control board, and the ministry of road transport and highways to respond to the notices it sent within four weeks regarding the discontinuance of remote sensing devices to detect polluting vehicles on the run.
The next hearing is on Nov 18.
Petitioner Subhas Datta emphasized on the need for having such devices. He also argued that the current Pollution Under Control certification system is outdated. tnn
