  • Kolkata: The detective department on Saturday arrested Nang Kain Kham (27) from Myanmar, the mastermind who ran a racket of smuggling pre-activated SIM cards from Kolkata to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, through courier services. “With the help of local police, we raided a hotel in Hyderabad and arrested Kham,” said additional CP (I) Murlidhar Sharma.

Cyber crooks in Cambodia used pre-activated SIMs to call people in India and defraud them.

Kham’s arrest came after the Customs found 361 such SIM cards hidden in the lids of two coffee bottles. —Dwaipayan Ghosh
