Kolkata: The detective department on Saturday arrested Nang Kain Kham (27) from Myanmar, the mastermind who ran a racket of smuggling pre-activated SIM cards from Kolkata to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, through courier services. “With the help of local police, we raided a hotel in Hyderabad and arrested Kham,” said additional CP (I) Murlidhar Sharma.
Cyber crooks in Cambodia used pre-activated SIMs to call people in India and defraud them.Kham’s arrest came after the Customs found 361 such SIM cards hidden in the lids of two coffee bottles. —Dwaipayan Ghosh
