Kolkata: Parents of the 20-year-old second-year law student, Gourab Dutta, who had died on Friday night after falling from their state housing complex building in Salt Lake’s FF Block, lodged a complaint of abetment to suicide on Sunday. A police probe had indicated that hours before he fell to his death, Gourab was assaulted by some fellow students outside the gates of a New Town university.
In the complaint filed with Bidhannagar South police, the family stated they suspect that someone did something to Dutta, forcing him to take this step. Gourab’s father claimed that his son was not suffering from any sort of stress. A senior officer said, later this week, they will summon senior officials of the university for questioning. tnn
