The accident occurred near the Dinesh Nagar auto stand while the boy was on his way to tuition classes.

Locals rushed him to Bangur Hospital in Tollygunge, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Following the incident, residents staged a protest, blaming the accident on the poor condition of the road, which had not been repaired for an extended period. They also criticized the police for arriving late at the spot after the accident.

In response to the tragedy, some individuals vandalized the excavator involved in the accident.

Anita Kar Majumder, councillor for Kolkata Municipal Corporation's Ward 113, stated that road repair work was underway in the area after recent underground drainage work. She added that the boy was struck by the rear arm of the excavator.
