Kolkata: The Kolkata Municipal Corporation roads department on Thursday started repair of battered roads in different parts of Dinesh Nagar, a neighbourhood located off Bansdroni, where a teenager was crushed to death on Wednesday morning.
The cratered road on which the earthmover machine had killed the class IX student is being given priority, said a civic official who added that a request was sent to Kolkata Environment and Infrastructure Improvement Project (KEIIP) officials to flush out storm water from low-lying areas that have remained waterlogged at Dinesh Nagar and some other neighbourhoods located off Garia.
A separate repair drive will be conducted on the lanes by the KMC engineering department. “We have deployed gangs from borough offices to flush out storm water and subsequent repair of roads before the pujas,” said a KMC official.
