Kolkata: KMDA will prepare a structural drawing and design a 12-storey market complex for rehabilitating the traders affected by the devastating fire at Howrah’s Mangla Haat. The agency will also conduct a structural analysis for the construction of the building.
In July last year, a fire gutted around 2,000 stalls at Mangla Haat, one of the largest garment markets in the eastern region.
CM Mamata Banerjee had promised to rehabilitate the traders. Mangla Haat consumers association president Ambuj Sharma and the West Bengal Hawkers’ Union (Mangla Haat branch) state secretary Manu Mukherjee welcomed the move.
