Kolkata/Siliguri: Some senior faculty members of the North Bengal Medical College have written to the director of medical education, urging him to take stringent administrative measures against principal Indrajit Saha for corruption, promoting unfair practices during exams and manipulation of marks.
Signed by at least six department heads, the complaint entailed corrupt practices on the campus.
There are allegations that several persons, like Avik De, now under CBI lens, would be inside exam halls, though they were not authorised to be there, to facilitate cheating by students close to North Bengal lobby.
Following protests, dean Sandeep Sengupta and assistant dean Sandeep Sheel were forced to resign, but Saha evaded action. A panel was formed, following which several employees were suspended but not principal Saha. “We will not hold any exam in the presence of this corrupt principal. A complaint against Saha was submitted to the panel about marks manipulation but to no avail,” said an HoD. Despite several attempts, Saha could not be reached.
