  • Kolkata: The New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) has issued a detailed guideline on preparatory measures to be taken during puja in New Town along with emergency contact numbers for any urgent requirement.

NKDA will provide 24-hour free ambulance services during puja, subject to availability. Except on Ashtami and Sunday during puja, doctors will be present at all the nine health centres in two shifts from 11 am to 6 pm.

Considering the forecast of rain during puja, contact numbers of forest department snake catchers will be available on the NKDA website.

Banners and posters have been given to all puja committees for dengue precautionary measures which have to be displayed in and around the puja pandals. Puja organisers will also need to display decorated placards on solid waste management and dengue prevention awareness in all puja pandals. On each day of the festival, the NKDA solid waste management team will collect the waste from all puja pandals.

NKDA vector control teams will remain active duringpuja as puja committees have been requested to open kiosks to distribute leaflets provided by NKDA on dengue prevention measures. Vector control source reduction teams and spray teams will be there to take necessary action for prevention of vector borne diseases.
