'Threatened with acid attack, if you inform anyone': 15-year-old 'sexually abused' in Kolkata

KOLKATA: A 15-year-old girl, who was allegedly sexually abused by a neighbour at Jatragachhi in New Town last week, opened up to her parents on Friday after which a written police complaint was lodged and the accused apprehended.
The family informed the cops that the girl used to address the man as her uncle. Last week, when she was alone at home, he had allegedly sexually abused her.
The family also told cops that the accused had threatened the girl with an acid attack if she dared to inform anyone about the incident.
Cops said they have started a case of sexual assault and are awaiting the girl’s medical test results. After locals got wind of the situation, they vandalised the accused’s house and assaulted him on Friday night. Cops later managed to take him away to police station. The mob later staged a demonstration in the area.
