Kolkata: The Calcutta Monsoon Derby was an easy picking for Satish Narredu- tutored Casteel here at the RCTC on Sunday, the concluding day of the season. Suraj Narredu rode a copy-book race astride the son of Castle Queen who came with a fluent run into the home straight to grab the honours from the late finishing Nomitsi. The supporting event was the Monsoon Cup which was won by the course favourite A Star Is Born.
It was the Narrredu clan who hogged the limelight as they won both the plum races. Casteel was named the champion horse of the season while King’s Crest was declared as the horse of the season. On the professional front, trainer Patrick saddled a treble while Paramjit Jubbal led in his first winners here in the form N R I Fantasy and Nautica at lucrative odds. Riders Suraj Narredu and B.
