• Council nod to students’ body at RG Kar

  • Kolkata: The college council at R G Kar has approved a students’ body according to nominations filed by the students. The executive body with representation from four batches of MBBS works closely with the council and resident doctors’ association in addressing grievances of students.

Even as the student union polls across all medical colleges is one of the demands of West Bengal Junior Doctors’ Front, the govt is yet to issue a directive on this.

R G Kar officials said setting up the students’ body was to instil confidence among students about their democratic participation and that this was a stop-gap arrangement till polls are held.

“For over seven years, TMCP leaders like Asish Pandey used to control all student activities, including taking a call on who will be allowed in college fest. There was no democratic participation. Now we take along all students and thrash out differences in a democratic way,” said a student.
