  • Kolkata: It’s a dream come true for Diamond Harbour FC (DHFC) as they won the I-League 3, beating Chanmari FC 1-0 in the championship final in Naihati on Sunday.

Ragav Gupta’s superb left-footed strike from the edge of the box in the 29th minute made all the difference and sealed the title in favour of the Kibu Vicuna-managed side.

DHFC — formed only in April, 2022 by Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee — have already qualified to the second division of I-League.

This is their first national-level trophy. Vicuna’s team is also in contention for the CFL Premier Division title, lying two points behind leaders East Bengal FC.

“An incredible feat!” Banerjee wrote on his social media account. tnn
