Kolkata: East Bengal FC on Tuesday announced the appointment of Oscar Bruzon as head coach until the end of the season. Bruzon will replace fellow Spaniard Carles Cuadrat in the red-and-gold dugout.
“I am determined to make the most of this opportunity, being fully aware of the goals set by the Emami East Bengal management. It’s a privilege and massive responsibility to manage a historical institution like East Bengal,” Bruzon said in a club statement.
Bruzon has had the experience of managing the likes of Sporting Clube de Goa and Mumbai City FC in Indian football in the past.
In recent past, he guided Bashundhara Kings to 5 Bangladesh Premier League titles.
Bruzon’s first assignment as East Bengal coach is set to be the ISL derby against Mohun Bagan SG on Oct 19.

East Bengal FC have been given full 3 points from their CFL Super Six match against Mohammedan SC after the latter were found guilty of breaching the domestic player rule. The match ended in a draw but the IFA disciplinary committee has decided to award full points to East Bengal.
This mean that Bino George’s team has now opened up a 4 point-lead over nearest rivals and recently I-League 3 champions Diamond Harbour FC. East Bengal need a point from their remaining 2 matches to clinch the championship.
