Bala, the 2009 Hindi film, revolved around a bald protagonist who suffered from lack of confidence and social pressure.

In a unique gesture, TMC MLA from Canning East, Saokat Molla, who believes that such people are “more intelligent” than others, felicitated and gave roses and kurtas to bald people in his constituency. The TMC MLA felicitated nearly a hundred persons from his constituency area who had gone bald.

“There are a lot of people in our area who we call bald people. They are more intelligent. They are wise intellectuals. We felicitated 100 people from two regions of my constituency. Later, I will felicitate 1,000 such people in the entire block. There is also a desire to have a competition,” said Molla.

He further added, “Every day, new ideas are emerging. Every year, the Durga puja carnival is organised on Red Road.

This year, there was another programme —“Droher carnival”, organised by junior doctors and R G Kar protestors. I thought I should do a new thing.” According to TMC sources Molla is carrying out the felicitations as part of this year’s edition of the TMC’s annual “Bijaya Sammilani”.
