  • Kolkata: Police on Friday arrested two persons after the family of a young man — who has been missing for four days — lodged a complaint alleging that he was murdered.

The arrested suspects, Mohammad Raju and Mohammad Ijaz, are residents of the Metiabruz area and friends of the missing young man. During questioning, they claimed that the young man had drowned in the Hooghly.

Till Saturday, his body had not been recovered. Based on the family’s complaint, the arrested individuals have been charged with murder, concealment of a body, and other related offences.

Police said the missing 33-year-old, Asif Raja, was an electrician from Metiabruz. It was later discovered that the accused were seen having tea with Asif on Monday night, and both had fled the area after the incident.
