• Road rage: 4 pedestrians hurt after biker chases bus

  • Kolkata: In an incident of road rage, a private bus lost control and hit four pedestrians on Belgachhia Road after being chased by a biker and a few locals on Saturday night. Cops said of the four injured, Tausiq Raja (38), who suffered multiple injuries, was in a state of coma at a private hospital.

    According to Shyambazar traffic police, the accident occurred at 11.10 pm when the bus brushed past a biker near the bridge.

    This irked the biker and he called two of his friends. The three chased the bus and two of them climbed up onto the vehicle to hit the driver. As the driver tried to escape, he rammed the pedestrians.

    Cops detained the driver and seized the vehicle, while the bikers are being interrogated. Three pedestrians, Harun Zamil Ahmed Khan (26), Zeesun Hossain (25) and Ayaz Sami (33), suffered minor injuries and were discharged from RG Kar Hospital. After the incident, cops carried out a road safety audit near Belgachhia bridge on Sunday.

    In another accident, three persons, Rajnath Paul (80), Karuna Bala Das (65) and Amarendra Das (73), were injured in Chetla around 10 am on Sunday. The three were admitted at CMRI Hospital with severe injuries after being hit by a private car. On the same day, near Avishikta Crossing on Bypass, a scooter rider, Nur Ali Azad (52), was injured after a vehicle hit him at 9.55 pm.
