  • Kolkata: Several state-run schools, which are about to start back-to-back exams, will reopen classes — either online or offline — from Monday. Most of the private schools affiliated to West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education will start with online classes.

Annual exams up to class IX will be held after the Kali Puja break and schools have to prepare a schedule for class X and XII test exams in between.

They also have to prepare class XI students for their second semester. Scottish Church Collegiate School’s Bibhas Sanyal said, “Last year, we gave a longer vacation. But this time, we are starting offline classes from Monday, especially for class XI students.”

The HS Council has issued a notice, asking for online classes between Oct 21 and 30. Patha Bhavan School is starting online classes from V to XI from Monday. Teacher-in-charge Bharati Chatterjee said, “This time, we are starting online classes during the festive break to minimise learning losses. We issued a notice early so those who are on trips can also join.” Jadavpur Vidyapith School headmaster Partha Pratim Baidya said, “We will conduct online classes for class XI from Monday but other classes will reopen after Diwali break.”
