Kolkata: ED on Wednesday conducted searches across 14 locations in Bengal in connection with the names of beneficiaries it found in a letter by former food minister Jyoti Priya Mallick. The letter, part of the ED’s supplementary charge sheet in the ration scam, led investigators to several names of beneficiaries.
ED team reached the residence of a businessman in Kolkata’s Bangur in the morning.
According to sources, the agency discovered 90 companies held by the businessman. Officials claimed that the businessman used to divert the ration scam money through different accounts. In March, the agency had raided his residence in connection with the teacher recruitment scam.
ED team raided a ration shop in Howrah’s Panchla and conducted searches at the house and warehouse of another dealer. Multiple warehouses of a dealer in Uluberia were also raided.
