    Indian Express | 25 October 2024
  • A major fire broke out in a commercial building located in the Terreti Bazar area of central Kolkata on Monday evening, officials said. A swift response from authorities led to the deployment of 15 fire engines to combat the fire, first spotted at 8 pm, they added. No casualties have been reported so far.

The affected building, located on Rabindra Sarani, contained wooden equipment and materials, which contributed to the fire’s rapid spread and intensity.

Firefighters were actively working to contain the fire and bring it under control. Preliminary findings suggest that an electrical short circuit may have sparked the blaze.

The massive fire resulted in thick black smoke billowing into the area, significantly reducing visibility and posing challenges for firefighting operations.
