Kolkata: The Kolkata Police has filed a charge sheet in the murder of promoter Arif Khan at Panchannagram under Anandapur police station this July. The charge sheet was filed in 88 days by the homicide section of the detective department. The nearly 100-page charge sheet has accused Moin Abbas, Md Zakir Khan and Amir Baker for the murder. Moin Abbas has been identified as the main accused in this murder case.
The name of Md Sheikh Naushad, a resident of the Charminar area in Hyderabad, has emerged as the fourth accused in the charge sheet for harbouring criminals after the murder. The charge sheet includes the names of 46 witnesses. The police stated that a supplementary charge sheet is likely in this case. Police teams travelled to Hyderabad and Mumbai to nab the accused.
According to police, on the evening of July 26, promoter Arif was hacked to death with a chopper in Panchannagram. Initially, Moin Abbas, Md Zakir Khan and Amir Baker chased the promoter. When he fell on the road, they allegedly hacked him to death. This caused panic in the area. No one ventured out even as Arif lay on the road in a bloodied state before police arrived and took him to hospital.
After the probe, cops revealed that main accused, Moin, was allegedly humiliated in public by the promoter for demanding extortion money from him. Additionally, Moin was envious of his former friend Arif’s business success.
