• Bomb hoax at Kol airport again

  • Kolkata: Seven more flights operating out of Kolkata were under a security alert—the sixth time in nine days—after a bomb threat on X. The threat once again turned out to be a hoax, even as heightened security measures were put in place and an anti-sabotage check was carried out by the CISF for two hours between 3 pm and 5 pm.

Around 2.45 pm on Monday, airport authorities noticed a post on X by a handle named "I wanna slit your throat" (username: @Mandaimassacre), which mentioned bombs on 41 flights, including seven flights (five IndiGo and two Vistara) related to Kolkata airport.

The aircraft where the bomb threats were mentioned included two IndiGo flights that had already departed to Jaipur and Raipur from Kolkata.

Three other flights of IndiGo and one flight of Vistara that reached Kolkata from Bengaluru were thoroughly scanned at isolation bays.

The boarding process on a Delhi-bound Vistara flight was put on hold after the boarding of 95 passengers.

After the declaration of the threat as non-specific by the BTAC, the said flight departed to its destination 51 minutes late.
