12 Kolkata: Some parts of the city may receive light drizzles on the day of Kali Puja that falls on Oct 31. However, chances of heavy or consistent rain have been ruled out. The day could be partly cloudy, said weathermen.
A high-pressure zone above the Bay of Bengal is supplying moisture into South Bengal, leading to intermittent, light drizzles in pockets of Kolkata since Sunday.
"Local clouds have been forming over South Bengal over the last two days. But the clouds are not strong enough to generate heavy showers. It will be dry and mostly sunny on Wednesday. But clouds may form on Thursday, leading to rain in some areas. Since there is no system over the sea, the skies should clear up quickly. Chances of further rain seem remote now," said Regional Meteorological Centre weather scientist HR Biswas.
Kolkata was lashed by heavy rain last Friday in the aftermath of Cyclone Dana that hit the Odisha coast near Bhitarkanika.
