Kolkata: Three stray dogs suffered severe burns from firecrackers during Diwali celebrations on Thursday night in different parts of Behala. They were rescued early on Friday and taken to a hospital-cum-care home for animals in Taratala.
The hospital had deployed separate teams to look out for stray animals needing rescue and medical care amid the bursting fire crackers, said Susmita Roy, founder of the hospital-cum-care home. The three dogs were found lying with burns on the streets of Sakherbazar, Behala tram depot and Taratala. "We are treating them and will return them to where they belong," said Roy.
She added that their team would continue their drive for a couple of days. "We rescued around 10 injured dogs last year," Roy said.
