Through the rally, the protesting junior doctors appealed to the masses to remember and pay tribute to their colleague this Diwali by turning off lights, and lighting diyas along with sky lanterns on October 31 between 9pm to 9:15pm.
Additionally, they also appealed to the people to make justice-themed rangolis for Diwali this year.
The representatives of the West Bengal Junior Doctors’ Forum and several civil society organisations took out the rally from the West Bengal Medical Council’s office in Sector 3 in Salt Lake to the Central Bureau of Investigation office at the CGO Complex in Sector 1.
Shouting slogans — ‘We want justice’, the participants further demanded that the CBI should complete its investigation into the rape-murder case, as soon as possible.
“It’s been almost three months since the incident happened. The CBI is still investigating the matter. We want them to quicken their probe,” one of the agitating doctors said.
“It is over 80 days and we are still fighting for justice and if it is not served we will continue,” Ashfaqullah Naiya, a junior doctor, said. — WITH PTI
