  • Air Marshal Surat Singh celebrates Diwali with air warriors at Jorhat in Assam KOLKATA: The Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Air Command, Air Marshal Surat Singh, visited the Air Force station at Jorhat in Assam this week and celebrated Diwali with air officers. He also received detailed updates on the air force base’s operational, maintenance, and administrative capabilities.

    Singh visited the Jorhat air force station, a premier airbase in Assam, on October 29 and celebrated Diwali the day after. He was welcomed by Air Commodore R Arvind, Air Officer Commanding, AF Station Jorhat, and Air Commodore Sunil Agrawal, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Hospital in Jorhat.

    During the visit, the AOC-in-C received detailed updates on the base's operational, maintenance, and administrative capabilities, along with information about ongoing infrastructure developments at the station. He took part in Diwali celebrations alongside Station Air Warriors, including those posted at advance landing grounds, said a senior Eastern Command official.

    In his interaction with deployed personnel, he expressed satisfaction with their readiness levels, positive attitude, and commitment, the official said. He urged them to maintain their preparedness for any situation. The Air Marshal also shared his warm wishes and gratitude with Air Warriors' families, acknowledging their vital support.

    The gathering enabled Air Warriors stationed at remote bases to interact directly with their commanding officer, strengthening their sense of connection and elevating the collective morale of all service members, the official added.
