Kolkata: Kolkata Police arrested a private dance teacher from the Gopalnagar area of south Kolkata after the accused was on the run for several days. The accused, identified as Alok Gharami alias Alok De, was accused of sexually assaulting a minor boy.
To avoid arrest, the accused fled from Kolkata to the Sundarbans in South 24 Parganas. However, after being pursued by police, he eventually returned to Kolkata and was nabbed by cops who will now question him and submit a charge sheet. The accused was sending money to a contact to tend to his pet dog. This was the lead that led to him being traced by cops.
According to police sources, Alok taught dance to teenagers in various parts of south Kolkata. While teaching dance in the Lake area, he allegedly targeted a 10-year-old boy. It is alleged that Alok took the minor student to his friend's house, where he sexually assaulted him. Alok reportedly took the boy to different places on "assignments" and also threatened him.
The boy was terrified after returning home a few weeks ago. After persistent questioning, the boy broke down and revealed the entire incident to his mother, who then filed a complaint at the Lake PS . A case was registered under the POCSO Act, and the police began their investigation.
