The Royal Norwegian Embassy and United Nations Women have invited senior TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee to participate and speak in a gender equality and women empowerment programme in Norway from November 17-22.
During his visit to Oslo, Banerjee will interact with members of the Norwegian Parliament, governance institutions, and leaders in academia and business. He will be accompanied by the representatives from the embassy and UN Women, the Royal Norwegian Embassy in a statement.
The exchange visit will expose participants to Norway’s policies and programmes that have advanced gender equality and women’s leadership in public life.
In a letter to the TMC national general secretary and Diamond Harbour MP, the Royal Norwegian Embassy, and the UN Women’s country representative stated, “The Royal Norwegian Embassy and UN Women are delighted to invite you to participate in this knowledge exchange programme, which will take place from November 17-22.”
“As part of the Norwegian Government’s support of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Womens’ (UN Women) work on gender and equality, the Royal Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi and UN Women are organizing acknowledge exchange visit for Indian parliamentarians at Oslo, Norway,” the letter signed by May-Elin Stener, Norwegian Ambassador to India and Susan Ferguson, Country Representative UN Women said.
“The exchange visit will introduce the participants to various institutions, policies and programmes in Norway that have contributed to the promotion of gender equality,” it said. The visit will address economic ties between Norway and India. Following a trade and partnership agreement signed by Norway and India in March 2024 as part of the EFTA-states, both the nations seek to strengthen cooperation in sectors like renewable energy and the circular economy.
