  • 12 Kolkata: Two R G Kar doctors, colleagues of the victim who were with her on the intervening night of Aug 8 and 9, hours before the 31-year-old PGT was raped and murdered, deposed before a Sealdah trial judge on Tuesday.

Two more doctors, among the five, who had last seen her alive, are likely to depose on Wednesday.

The five R G Kar doctors have been questioned multiple times by the Kolkata Police and then by the CBI. Some of them have also undergone lie detector tests.

On Tuesday, the two doctors deposed and were cross-examined for nearly three hours during the in-camera trial. Accused Sanjay Roy chose to remain silent in the court.

Roy, who vociferously shouted from inside the prison van, was ferried to the court on Tuesday amid tight security in a special police van with windowpanes shut. Roy was taken to court and brought outside by police beyond the media glare.

CBI, in its charge sheet, mentioned the two doctors were seen with the victim at 10.15 pm on Aug 8. Three other doctors joined them and they ordered food through a delivery platform. After the food reached them, they ate dinner between midnight and 1 am and watched the javelin throw event at the Olympics on mobile. The five junior doctors were sitting on the dais of the third-floor seminar room of the emergency building.

The two doctors earlier told the CBI that they left for their duties while the victim decided to rest. She was alone in the seminar room and slept on the mattress kept in that room. One of the two doctors rested for a while in the study room and the other went to the emergency ward.

On the morning of Aug 9, the victim was discovered lying in an awkward position by another doctor, and he informed one of the two doctors. He was the second person to find her lying with naked legs and he rushed out to inform others at the hospital.
