• One more app cab service at airport

  • 123 Kolkata: To address the shortage of transport options outside Kolkata airport, another app cab aggregator, Rapido, is set to offer services from the airport on Thursday afternoon. The service will be inaugurated by state transport minister Snehashish Chakraborty and transport secretary Saumitra Mohan alongside airport officials.

The airport currently has separate bays and booking kiosks for Uber, Ola, Snap E, and Yatri Sathi. There is another counter operated by a cooperative named Helpline. Cars on the platform InDrive can also be booked from the airport, but they do not have any separate bay or booking kiosk.

"We have made an agreement with Rapido and they are about to start operating from Thursday. We often come across passengers complaining about the shortage of transport options from the airport, especially at night. The addition of a new aggregator will certainly provide some relief to the passengers," said an airport official.

In recent times, the airport has always received poor feedback in the ‘airport service quality surveys' over the availability of transportation options near the airport premises and car parking infrastructure. Airport officials said they were trying to mitigate the same with the introduction of more cab options as well as strengthening the currently available choices.

TOI found a kiosk has already been set up between pillar No. 27 and 28 at the Kolkata airport's arrival zone with a dedicated cab service bay where the cars will be parked.
