  • Kolkata: The city witnessed scattered protests in areas like Behala, Thakurpukur and Salt Lake City Centre on Thursday, marking three months of the massive Reclaim the Night movement, which was called after the rape-murder at R G Kar Hospital. The protests demanded a speedy trial and justice for the victim.

But the original Reclaim the Night organisers neither gave any call on Thursday nor were reportedly present at these protests. Behala Pratibadi Mancha organised a street convention at SB Park at 6 pm, where junior doctor Debashis Halder was a speaker. Community for Women's Safety organised a rally from City Centre One to Karunamoyee, where nearly 50 people participated at around 9 pm.

Members of Reclaim the Nights, Reclaim the Rights launched a social media campaign on Thursday evening, where they inserted ‘Abhaya' as their middle name. "I changed my name to ‘Satabdi Abhaya Das' on social media," said Satabdi Das, an organiser of the Reclaim the Nights, Reclaim the Rights movement. tnn
