123 Kolkata: Jewellery worth several lakhs were stolen from a house at Hatiara in Baguiati when the house owners were away for almost a week. Sandeep Kumar Gupta, the owner, said he was away at his in-laws' home in North 24 Parganas with his family when neighbours found the broken front gate lock and informed him on Sunday morning. Upon rushing back, he found gold bangles, rings, necklaces, armbands, diamond necklaces, earrings and silver ornaments missing from the almirah.
Gupta said Rs 5,000 was also missing. Gupta, who manages a fleet of cabs serving Sector V firms, left on Tuesday for his son's vaccination appointment and then went to his in-laws' home. tnn
