• Winter sets in firmly as temperature drops in West Bengal, dry weather persists

  • West Bengal is set to witness colder nights as winter sets in more firmly. The state has experienced a noticeable drop in temperatures, especially in the southern and northern regions.

    On Sunday, the minimum temperature in Kolkata fell to 19 degrees Celsius, down from 19.3 degrees Celsius on Saturday. A further decrease in temperature is expected in the coming days. The district recorded the lowest temperature in southern Bengal, plummeting to 13.1 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

    Other districts, such as Sriniketan, Jhargram, and Siuri, also experienced cold conditions, with temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius. The hill station reported a minimum temperature of 9.4 degrees Celsius on Sunday. Kalimpong, Raiganj, and Alipurduar also experienced a drop in temperature, with minimums ranging from 14.5 to 16 degrees Celsius.

    Strong winds are expected to lower night temperatures further, especially in southern Bengal. A drop of 2-3 degrees is anticipated in districts adjacent to the Himalayas in northern Bengal. No significant change in temperature is predicted for the next two days. No rain is expected anywhere in the state, and dry weather will continue.
